Age: The younger generation are more comfortable with the changes in technology as they have been raised in an environment where all the aspects of technology are normal for them. Technology has become part of their everyday life whether they are at school studying or at home playing games. The younger generation have benefited highly from the evolution of technology as they have incorporated ICT in all aspects of their life. The older generation from 50 plus do not feel comfortable using ICT and so they neglect computers or any other electronic gadget. This is probably because they have not been educated and so they don't know how to use these new services. Some of the older generation have not been able to adapt to life in the 21st century, consequently they lack the knowledge and confidence to use the Internet. This has added to the digital divide as the younger generation are using ICT more than the older generation.
Motivation: some people may not be in favour of using the internet because they have been raised to think in a certain way but some people may have a genuine fear of using computers. those who fit this category are called technophobes. this could be a result of not been close to a computer or they have been told untrue stories about computers and their effect or they just have poor ICT skills.
